Harriet S. Stewart
Homemaker, 86

Harriet S. Stewart of Callicoon, a homemaker and a longtime area resident, died Thursday, August 10, 2000, at the Grover M. Hermann Division of Community General Hospital in Callicoon. She was 86 years of age.
The daughter of the late Harry and Mabel Wagner Steffens, she was born April 16, 1914, in New York City. She was the widow of Howard A. Stewart.
Mrs. Stewart is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ken Barton of La Mesa, Calif.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John "Jack" and Hermine Stewart, and Craig Stewart, all of Callicoon; five granddaughters, Jill Grishaber of Jeffersonville, Jennifer Stewart of Inverness, Fla., Karen Occhionero and Stacey Barton, both of Littleton, Colo., and Deshjamber Stewart of Callicoon; two great-grandsons, Logan Grishaber and Alex Occhionero; two great-granddaughters, Shelby and Carly Grishaber; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Vera Dyer.
Services were held Sunday at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon with the Rev. Kristen Anderson officiating.
Burial was made in the North Branch Methodist Cemetery in North Branch.

Gerald Doolan Sr.
Retired Marine, 50

Gerald Doolan Sr. of Bloomingburg, a retired member of the U.S. Marine Corps, died Wednesday, August 9, 2000, at his home. He was 50 years of age.
The son of the late John Sr. and Elizabeth Kolbacher Doolan, he was born April 18, 1950, in Newton, N.J.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Doolan, and a daughter Marie, both at home; two sons, Gerald Doolan Jr. of Bloomingburg and Jamie Todd Doolan of Middletown; four sisters, Mary Hamel of Tennessee, Elaine Doolittle of Florida, N.Y., Karen Garcia of Warwick and Shirley Doolan of Middletown; two brothers, John Doolan Jr. of Bloomingburg and William Doolan of Tennessee; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Tyler Doolan.
Services were held Monday at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingras-sia Funeral Home in Middletown.
Burial was made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

George M. Ross
Ret. Highway Emply., 90

George M. Ross of Livingston Manor, a retired employee of the Town of Callicoon Highway Department and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, August 13, 2000, at the Walnut Mountain Care Center in Liberty. He was 90 years of age.
The son of the late George and Dorothy Wegman Ross, he was born December 5, 1909, in Roscoe.
Mr. Ross was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Grammer Ross, at home; a son, George Ross of Callicoon Center; three daughters, Dorothy Ross of Livingston Manor, Susan Davis of Callicoon Center and Debbie Ross of Melbourne, Fla.; a cousin, Russell Mootz Sr. of Roscoe; eleven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe, on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Alfred Croke officiating.
Burial will be made in the Riverview Cemetery in Roscoe.

David Malecki-Hurst
Carnival Worker, 25

David John Malecki-Hurst of Middletown, a carnival worker with Amusements of America, died Wednesday, August 2, 2000, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Pennsylvania. He was 25 years of age.
The son of John Henry and Linda Wood Malecki, he was born July 31, 1975, in Middletown.
David worked as an occasional volunteer at the Guild of St. Margaret Soup Kitchen in Middletown.
In a family statement, it was said, "He was interested in carnivals, computers, fire fighting, bicycling and most of all his 19-month-old son, David Jr."
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sullivan Malecki-Hurst of Middletown; a son, David Malecki-Hurst Jr, a stepdaughter, Caitlin Rose Hutchins; his father of Bloomingburg; his mother of Middletown; a half-brother, William of Slate Hill; a half-sister, Lynn Wood of Middletown; his adoptive parents, John and Arlene Hurst of Niskayuna; his adoptive brother, Jack Hurst and his wife, Cathy, of Otisville; and his adoptive sisters, Julie Roe and her husband Rick, Kim Brown and Jennifer Hurst.
Services were private.

Rosalie Ramsay
Homemaker, 82

Rosalie Ramsay of Monticello, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 82 years of age.
The daughter of the late William and Anna Kelly Hanrahan, she was born November 28, 1917, in Monticello. She was the widow of Walter Ramsay.
Mrs. Ramsay was a member of St. Peter's R.C. Church in Monticello.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Carolyn Ramsay of Monticello; four grandchildren, Denise Coffey and her husband Charlie, Karen Crawford and her husband, Steven, Rosemarie Ramsay and Walter Ramsay; three great-grandchildren, Alicia, Brandon and Brenden; two nieces, Rosemary DeCamp and Patricia Roggero; and a former daughter-in-law, Pam Barry of North Carolina.
Friends may call at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 195 Broadway, Monticello, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's R.C. Church in Monticello with the Rev. Stanislaus Ogbonna officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.

John V. Wulforst
Sullivan DPW Emply., 46

John V. Wulforst of Yulan, an employee of the Sullivan County Highway Department and a 27-year area resident, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at Calvary Hospital. He was 46 years of age.
The son of the late Joseph J. and Marion Phalen Wulforst, he was born November 12, 1953, in Long Island.
Mr. Wulforst was a member of St. Anthony's R.C. Church in Yulan, the American Legion Ambulance Service in Eldred and a former captain of the Yulan Fire Department.
He is survived by three brothers, Joseph J. Wulforst of Massapequa, Thomas Wulforst of Yulan and Richard Wulforst of Stony Brook; two sisters, Patricia O'Donnell of Spring Hill, Pa., and Susan Hatton of West Hempstead; seven nieces; nine nephews; five grand-nephews and a grand-niece. He was predeceased by a brother, Dennis M. Wulforst.
Friends may call at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home, Route 97, Barryville, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Church in Yulan with the Rev. Sennen San Fratello, O.F.M., officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Eldred.

Palma M. Capalbo,
Executive Secy., 60

Palma M. Capalbo, an executive secretary at the SYDA Foundation in Fallsburg, died Friday, August 11, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 60 years of age.
The daughter of Gaetana Ciardi Adorante and the late Julius Adorante, she was born October 17, 1939, in New York City.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Capalbo, at home; two daughters, Susan Capalbo at home, and Christine Capalbo of Virginia Beach, Va.; her mother of Jeffersonville; a sister, Donna Knack of Jeffersonville; a brother, Joseph Adorante; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Nora M. Weeks
Homemaker, 90

Nora M. Weeks of Woodridge, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, August 13, 2000, at the Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen. She was 90 years of age.
The daughter of the late Merritt and Jennie Purvis Helm, she was born July 30, 1910, in Roscoe. She was the widow of Fred Weeks.
Mrs. Weeks was a member of the United Methodist Church of Woodridge and chaplain of the Ladies Aid of the church.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was the world's greatest mother and grandmother who was always there when we needed her."
She is survived by a son, Donald Weeks of Lords Valley, Pa.; three daughters, Eleanor Depew of Bloomingburg, Doris Caston of Woodridge and Phyllis LaBelle of Middletown; two brothers, Melvin Caston of Woodridge and Clifton Helm of Montgomery; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 195 Broadway, Monticello, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Woodridge in Woodridge with the Rev. Doris M. Tietjen officiating.
Burial will be made in the Fallsburg Cemetery in Fallsburg.
