Robert E. Free
Extruder Oper., 69

Robert E. Free of Wurtsboro, an extruder operator for Chester Cable, a longtime area resident and a former Walden resident, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 69 years of age.
The son of the late Rudolph R. and Jean McKean Free, he was born March 10, 1931, in Chattanooga, Tenn.
A Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a life member of Walden VFW Post #2946.
He is survived by his wife, Elissa "Liz" Zitterbart Free of Walden; two daughters, Lisa Free of Walden and Andrea Kwiatkowski of North Carolina; and three grandchildren, Rudy Free and Sarah and Dierdre Kwiatkowski.
Private services were held.
Mr. Free had requested that his body be donated to the New York Medical College in Valhalla.

Emily C. C. Braunwald
Homemaker, 77

Emily C. Chmielewski Braunwald, a six-month resident of Wurtsboro, a homemaker, died Sunday, July 9, 2000, at her home. She was 77 years of age.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Jeanette Zapolski Chmielewski, she was born July 18, 1922 in Jersey City, N.J.
She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #266 in Jersey City, N.J. and a communicant of St. James R.C. Church in Red Bank, N.J.
Mrs. Braunwald is survived by a daughter, Judy Lenahan of Middletown, N.J.; two sisters, Eleanor Finn of Jersey City, N.J., and Violet Hansen of Pt. Pleasant, N.J.; a granddaughter, Colleen Lenahan Taylor and a grandson, Michael Lenahan.
Services were held Thursday at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home in Middletown, N.J., followed by a Funeral Liturgy at St. James R.C. Church.
Burial was made in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown, N.J.

Francesca Raimond
Ret. LPN, 94

Francesca Raimond of Middletown, a retired licensed practical nurse (LPN) at the Old Cumberland Hospital in New York City, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at St. Teresa's Nursing Home in Middletown. She was 94 years of age.
The daughter of the late Francesco and Liberata Sghiriripa Cropanese, she was born December 29, 1905, in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Frank Raimond who died July 2, 1972.
Mrs. Raimond was a graduate of the New York School of Nursing.
She is survived by a son, Ralph Raimond of Bloomingburg; a daughter, Rose, of Monticello; two grandchildren, Gloria Cahalan and Jane Lake, and a great-granddaughter, Tricia Cahalan, all of Monticello; three sisters, Camille Adamo of Spartanburg, S.C., and Angela Ludwigson and Marie Wright, both of San Diego, Calif.
Funeral services were held Thursday at St. Teresa's Nursing Home Chapel in Middletown.
Interment was made in St. John's Cemetery in Queens.

Oliver ‘Kojak’ Hutson
Counselor, 74

Oliver "Kojak" Hutson of Woodbourne, a residential counselor for New Hope and 24-year area resident, died Sunday, July 9, 2000, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. He was 74 years of age.
The son of the late John and Julia Smart Hutson, he was born October 22, 1925, in Farrell, Pa.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Ferndale.
Mr. Hutson was an active member and delegate of the Woodbourne Fire Company, a past president of the Sullivan County Firefighter's Association, a past president of the Woodbourne Fire Company, captain of the Woodbourne Fire Police, and a delegate to the Hudson Valley Firemen's Association. An active member of the Firefighter's Association of the State of New York, he was also a member of the Blue Vests of the Hudson Valley Fireman's Association, a member of the Hudson Valley Fire Police Committee, Veteran Firemen's Association of Middletown and a social member of the Loch Sheldrake Fire Company. He was the recipient of the Annual Kenneth Merriman Memorial Award for 1996 as Fire Policeman of the Year for Hudson Valley. Mr. Hutson was a member of the King Solomon Masonic Lodge in Mt. Vernon.
He is survived by his companion and business partner, Inez Boyd, at home; three sons, David Shephatiah and his wife, Rose, of Augusta, Ga., Dr. Gary Walton and his wife, Charmaine of Eutaw, Ala., and Oliver Hutson Jr. of the Bronx; seven grandchildren; a step-sister, Mary Tillman of the Bronx; two nieces and a nephew, all of Ruffin, S.C.; a dear friend, Yvette; and many relatives and friends.
Friends may call at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, Main Street, Woodbourne, on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Firematic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Smith officiating.
Burial will be made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

William L. McAbier
Blaster, 40

William L. McAbier, a longtime resident of Neversink, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris after a long illness. He was 40 years of age.
Mr. McAbier was a member of Teamsters Local 147 and a blaster for Local 17.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Washburn McAbier of Port Jervis; four daughters, Kandy, Brenda and Tanya McAbier, all of Port Jervis, and Jennifer McAbier of Loch Sheldrake; a brother, John McAbier of Neversink; a sister, LouAnne Corrigan of Slidell, La.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St., Liberty, on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert C. Nadelen officiating.
Cremation will be made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Robert W. Davis
Prop. Truck Repair, 54

Robert W. Davis of Hankins, the proprietor of Quickway Auto & Truck Repair in Hankins and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at the Grover M. Hermann Division of Community General Hospital in Callicoon. He was 54 years of age.
The son of the late Claude Aaron and Mary Arletta Rogers Davis, he was born August 10, 1945, in Livingston Manor.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Holiday Davis, at home; a daughter, Teresa Smith of Livingston Manor; two sons, Wade Davis of Pine Bush and Aaron Davis, at home; four grandchildren; six brothers, six sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Cremation will be made at the Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.

Anthony Cuoco
Mech./Truck Dr., 66

Anthony Cuoco of Seaside Heights, N.J., a mechanic and tractor/trailer driver and the former owner of Avenue Z Car Service in Brooklyn, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at the Community Medical Center in Toms River, N.J. He was 66 years of age.
The son of the late Pasquale and Mary Lanzano Cuoco, he was born July 4, 1934, in Brooklyn.
Mr. Cuoco was a member of John Hughes Knights of Columbus #481 in Brooklyn.
He is survived by a son, Robert Cuoco of Brooklyn; two brothers, Robert Cuoco of Swan Lake and Patrick Cuoco and his wife, Mary Rose, of the state of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday at St. George's R.C. Church in Jeffersonville with the Rev. Robert Nee officiating.
Burial will be made in Calvary Cemetery in Youngsville.
